District Governor Jim Squire To Visit Thomasville

Our District Governor, Jim Squire, is a person of action guided by our motto of Service Above Self, as evidenced by his many years of service to his community, his profession and Rotary.

His Rotary service includes the 2017 International Convention Executive Committee, District Youth Services Chair and Assistant Governor, where he won the District AG of the Year Follow Me award. He has served on the Rotary Laws of Life Board, volunteered at several District Conferences and graduated from the Rotary Leadership Institute.

When Jim was President of the Sandy Springs Club they won the Category II Best Club award and he earned the Sheffield Leadership Award, our District’s highest leadership award. He has been club Rotarian of the Year, earned two Service Above Self Awards, and proudly sponsored twelve new Rotary Club members.

Jim also contributes generously: he is a Major Donor, Paul Harris Society member and Bequest Society member with the Rotary Foundation and a Will Watt Fellow with the Georgia Rotary Student Program.

Professionally, Jim owns Franchise Marketing Advisors, a franchise consulting practice. A Certified Franchise Executive, Jim has enjoyed a long career in franchising with many notable brands. Believing that franchising can open the door for anyone to the great American dream, Jim promotes franchising through his service with the International Franchise Association’s (IFA), the Southeast Franchise Forum, and the Georgia State Franchise Entrepreneurship Advisory Board. He is Chairman Emeritus of the Georgia Restaurant Association and a member of Georgia State University’s School of Hospitality Industry Advisory Board. He is past chairman of the Atlanta Chapter of the American Institute of Wine and Food, and an award-winning past president of the restaurant division of the Georgia Hospitality and Travel Association.

A native of Savannah, Jim is also active in the community. He is past chairman of the Housing Authority of Fulton County and the Private Industry Council of Atlanta. In Sandy Springs, he has served on several boards and commissions, including the Sandy Springs Charter Commission. He is a graduate of the Citizen’s Police Academy, a member of American Legion Post 201 and served as an officer in the Georgia National Guard.

Jim and his wife Donna live in Sandy Springs, where they are active in the Dunwoody United Methodist Church. They have a son and a daughter who have blessed them with three grandsons and two granddaughters.
