New Member Spotlight Welcome Chris Kerr Chris Kerr, his wife Casey and their 2-year-old daughter,
Rooney, moved to the area to manage Longleaf Ridge Farm, a Mitchell County farm
that has been in Casey’s family for six generations, growing peanuts, corn,
soybeans and timber. When time allows, they love to walk the fields and along
the banks of the Flint River, looking for colonial and native American
artifacts. Chris and Casey met through Leadership Georgia where their spirits
for service led them to volunteer together as program chairs. They have recently purchased a home in
Thomasville so they can be close to where Rooney will attend preschool. Prior to coming to our area, the family were
residents of Rome, Ga., where Chris was vice president of Hardy Realty and
Development. A third-generation Rotarian, Chris was a member of the Rome
chapter for nine years and is a past president as well as a Paul Harris and
Will Watt Fellow. A graduate of University of Tennessee at Chattanooga in 1996,
he then spent a year in Norway through a scholarship from the Norwegian Rotary Advisory
Board and GRSP. He later earned his master’s degree from the Annenberg School
at University of Southern California. Chris has previously worked in New York and Los Angeles with
responsibilities in strategy, operations and business development. Some of the
companies he was an integral part of were Paramount Pictures, MTV Networks,
HULU and onefinestay. I think we can all agree how fortunate we are to have Chris,
Casey and Rooney! Please join me in welcoming them to Thomasville and our
Rotary family.
