The Rick Perkins Award for Excellence in Technical Instruction honors the Technical College System of
Georgia’s most outstanding instructors. The award has been an ongoing statewide event since 1991 and
is designed to recognize technical college instructors who make significant contributions to technical
education through innovation and leadership in their fields. Formerly known as the Commissioner’s
Award of Excellence, the award was renamed in honor and memory of Thomas “Rick” Perkins, an
instructor at West Georgia Technical College
Governor Kirk and many in district leadership spent considerable time in thought and discussion weighing the pros and cons of holding the conference. In the final conclusion, it was felt we could not ensure conditions would be safe and could not in good conscience risk the health of anyone in attendance.
Governor Kirk is still looking at options for clubs to celebrate this year. He knows it is especially tough on this year’s presidents who have given so much in the name of Rotary. Stayed tuned for further communication.
Many of you have registered already. We will process refunds. There is nothing you need to do.
