Kathy Reed - Valuing Precious Resources

This past Monday, Sept. 13, we listened to a presentation from Kathy Reed who is the Executive Director of Keep North Fulton Beautiful.

Keep North Fulton Beautiful is an environmental non-profit organization that provides education and conservation programs to the communities of Johns Creek and Sandy Springs. Their mission is to educate and activate our community in the in the beautification and conservation of our environment.

The Sandy Springs Recycling Center processes over 2.5 million pounds of recycled and reused items annually.

They have served our community since its formation as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in 1984. As an affiliate of Keep America Beautiful they share the vision of making our communities cleaner and more beautiful places to live, work and play. Their primary focus areas are litter prevention, beautification, waste reduction, water conservation and environmental education.

Their annual impact is enormous. Each year they engage 24 thousand volunteer hours. They process 2.5 million pounds of recycled and reused items. They also collect 162 thousand pounds of litter and debris.

William McArthur - Rotary Foundation News

Join us Monday, September 20th, to hear William MacArthur tell of news from the Rotary Foundations latest endeavors.

The mission of the Rotary Foundation is to help Rotarians advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty.

Formed at the 1917 Rotary International Convention held in Atlanta, the Rotary Foundation funds a significant portion of the projects of Rotary clubs around the world. It is most known for funding the Global Polio Virus Eradication Program begun in 1985. There are only just a few cases left in Pakistan/Afghanistan.

TRF funds more than $4 billion on life-changing, sustainable projects around the world. It is responsible for many water quality projects and educational programs in developing countries.

The Rotary Foundation transforms your gifts into service projects that change lives both close to home and around the world.
