This Weeks Program!
Mary Ligon District 6900 DG

Mary Ligon joined the Rotary Club of Dougherty County (Albany, GA) in 2002 serving in several capacities before becoming President in 2009-2010. At the district level, Mary has served as an Assistant Governor, AG Trainer/Coordinator, multi-district PETS facilitator and District Grants chair. She has been recognized as District Rotarian of the Year in 2017, with the Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service in 2018 and is a Rotary Foundation major donor.

Community service is fundamental and routine for Mary. She has served in a variety of leadership roles in her church and many nonprofit organizations throughout the Albany community, most recently as chair of the Chehaw Park Authority. In 2007 Leadership Albany, Inc. recognized her with the Outstanding Alumni Award.

After earning her degree in Management/Information Systems from Georgia Southern, Mary began her career of 10+ years with IBM. She served as the Executive Director of Leadership Albany, Inc. for 17 years and in January 2018 begain serving as the Resources Director for the Association of Leadership Programs. While Executive Director of Leadership Albany, the Association of Leadership Programs recognized her with the 2016 Preceptor Award. Mary began a small consulting business in 1994 which she continues today.

Married for 36 years, Mary and Jim have two daughters. Margaret, a licensed athletic trainer, recently moved from Tennessee back to South Georgia. She is employed by the Hughston Clinic working at Lowdnes County High School. Anna is the Director of Business Development for Turning Point Hospital and is a member of the Rotary Club of Moultrie. Jim is currently General Manager for Interstate Warehouse Services after 30+ years with P&G. Mary enjoys being with family and friends, knitting and watching football in the fall, reading and reflecting at the lake anytime, and walking around their pine tree farm when the snakes and gnats are not out.

Please make sure you have already RSVP, for the District Governor Reception on 12/16/21, at The Garden Center at 6:00pm.

What You Missed Last Week!

Mother Teresa said, "Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." We have a community full of talented and gifted youth with a bright future. It is always a honor to have our Student of the Month Students visit with us and share their future plans. Each month we are so thankful for the students who are leading the way in their local schools and being great leaders. Left to right: Sam Carter - Scholar’s, Abby Craven - Brookwood, Olivia Troyer TCCHS,  Audrey Vanlandingham - Bishop Hall, Jeffrey Pham - TCCHS.

Just in time for the Holidays, Bryan Wynn with Bull and Briar shared information on his humble beginnings and how he is making a huge imprint in the leather goods market. He had gifts on hand and many Rotarians supported and will support. Thank you Bryan for sharing with us and giving us behind the scenes details.

Honoring Our Local Troops!

This is the Best time of the year to Honor our Local Troops for all the sacrifices they make. We are so appreciative for their commitment to our country and their presence in our community. Thank you to our fellow Rotarians for showing up and making this possible. God Bless America!

Be The Voice Campaign...
Youth Service Spotlight!

Be THE Voice® is a student-driven initiative that results in a kinder, more inclusive school environment. Our revolutionary program is built upon proven techniques that help develop a student's interpersonal skills - through first-hand experiences - resulting in confident student leaders in the classroom and beyond. Since program inception in 2015, our high-energy student-driven “Movement for Kindness, Compassion & Inclusion” has resulted in a more inclusive environment in schools all throughout Georgia.

We enjoying having the students from MacIntyre Park Middle school come and have lunch with us. They are a great group of students and are really making a difference in our community by Being The Voice! They donated socks to the Ronald McDonalds House for the holidays. Keep up the good work!
