On Saturday, about a dozen Thomasville club members attended District Training in Columbus. On Thursday, April 3, the CEO of PCOM South Georgia, Dr. Marla Golden, will give an overview of the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, South Georgia campus, in Moultrie. The college was founded in 2019 to establish a home for medical education in Southwest Georgia with a strong focus on rural health care for this region. According to the Georgia Board for Physician Workforce statistics, the Southwest Georgia region has a critical need for physicians, and studies show that physicians educated and trained in a region are likely to remain in the area to practice medicine.
Dr. Golden was named dean of the osteopathic medicine program at PCOM South Georgia in January of 2024 and is a 1988 graduate of PCOM. Dr. Golden practiced emergency medicine in different settings from rural to urban for many years and also owned and ran an integrative pain medicine practice for more than 20 years.
Come to Rotary to learn more about PCOM South Georgia and its impact on rural medicine and the region.
