DECAL: Childcare in Southwest Georgia
Jill Taylor (left) and Shayna Funk will present our program on Thursday, May 1.
Jill is director of community partnerships and 2Gen Outreach for the Quality Innovations and Partnerships Division at Bright from the Start:
Georgia Department of Early Care and Learning (DECAL). Shayna is director of research partnerships and business supports at DECAL. The two have been instrumental to expanding access to child care during nontraditional hours for families across Georgia through the development and rollout of Expanding Parents’ Access to Nontraditional Delivery (EXPAND) grants.
These grants, including one received by Thomasville, are providing $6.5 million for expanded day care hours across the state, and Jill and Shayna will discuss the program.

- Monday, May 5: Board Meeting, 5:15 p.m. at the Chamber
All Red Ribbon members are required to attend a board meeting as part of their Red Ribbon program. - Thursday, May 8: Sam McCoy & Britt Shiver, artists from Thomasville Center for the Arts
- Thursday, May 15: Sort and Pack at Second Harvest, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
- Saturday, May 17: Produce distribution, Weston Park. Set up begins at 7:30 a.m., distribution begins at 8:30 a.m. or as soon as set up is completed.
- Wednesday, May 21: Coffee Chat at Grassroots Coffee. No agenda, just drop in to get to know your fellow Rotarians a little better. Anytime between 7:30 a.m. and 8:15 a.m.
