What You Missed Last Week!

We had fifty in attendance at last week’s meeting, with hopes of being able to meet in person in a couple of weeks.

It was announced that Ed Titus had a follow up on his recent surgery and all seems to be going well.

Dr. Wayne Johnson was our program speaker and his talk focused on the Federal Student Aid program. While many Rotary Club of Thomasville members are on the other side of the Federal Student Aid program, others are just being introduced to it.

Dr. Johnson gave some cold hard facts concerning the Student Loan program. From his view, the program is needed, but the challenge is to determine how it can best benefit those who choose to use it. It appears there in is plenty of work to be done on both sides, those administering the loans and those receiving them.

Each week president John Brown reminds us of the Rotary International 2020-2021 theme, Rotary Opens Opportunities. He does this to encourage us to create opportunities that strengthen our leadership, help put service ideas into action, and improve the lives of those in need. These are the words of Rotary International President Holger Knaack. President Knaack goes on to say, “Rotary isn’t just a club for people to join, but rather “an invitation to endless opportunities. We believe that our acts of service, big and small, create opportunities for people who need our help.”

Let us seize the opportunities Rotary opens to us. And remember, “Everything we do opens another opportunity for someone, somewhere.”

Thanks for the encouragement President John.
