GRSP Students Present

We'll hear from both our Georgia Rotary Student Program (GRSP) students at this meeting. They've had a few weeks to get settled at their host homes and will tell us about themselves and their home countries as well as what they hope to learn or accomplish this year, during their studies in the United States.

Our students are Manuel Velez of Colombia, hosted by Devona and Stephan Thompson, and Dawn Mabaso of South Africa, hosted by André and Walter Marria.

Additionally, club members will receive their current GRSP Foundation giving-status as we kick off our annual giving campaign.

Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Kevin Tanner

On Thursday, Oct. 10, our guest speaker will be Georgia Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities Commissioner Kevin Tanner. Commissioner Tanner brings around three decades of public service experience, with a deep understanding of Georgia’s complex behavioral health continuum.

Under his leadership, historic investments in the agency’s workforce have resulted in reopening previously offline crisis beds and enabling state hospitals to operate at nearly full capacity.

He'll discuss the role of his department in Georgia and its evolution.

The club meeting on Thursday, Oct. 17 will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank.
