Coat and Blanket DriveThroughout September, Rotary will collect new and gently used coats and blankets to support the Thomas County Food Bank’s
Coat Closet. Please bring coats and blankets to any meeting this month or contribute money to help purchase new coats. Cash donations will help Brigit Smallwood, coat closet volunteer chairman, buy in quantities at discount prices. Even a $5 or $10 donation can buy a coat or blanket.
Rotary has supported the Coat Closet almost since the launch of the Thomas County Food Bank about 20 years ago. The Coat Closet is open from
mid-October through early December during regular food bank hours. Volunteers schedule Food Bank clients to “shop” for coats for their families. Children are offered coats every year and adults can get them every two years. Blankets are given out as needed. All clients meet income and circumstance qualifications for food assistance. Typically, the coat closet provides more than 1,000 coats and several hundred blankets every year.
Please bring your donations to any Rotary meeting this month or drop them by Brigit Smallwood’s office.

Kelli Arno; Travel ThomasvilleOur program on Thursday, Sept. 5 will feature Kelli Arno of Travel Thomasville. You'll hear how she grew up traveling with her family before attending college in South Carolina and Georgia, where she earned a degree in English education with a minor in French, and continued to embrace her love of travel. Kelli has lived in Thomasville for 11 years, and spends her free time cooking, reading and traveling the world. Learn how she landed in Thomasville and more about what she does in the community during her program.

Magic Kumquat ProductionsOur program on Thursday, Sept. 12 will be presented by Laura Albritton and Zickie Allgrove, documentary storytellers behind Magic Kumquat Productions. Magic Kumquat Productions creates documentary films with stories that engage, inspire and move viewers. The productions are dynamic and curiosity-driven, focusing on the natural world and remarkable individuals. Learn more about the duo and their films during our meeting.

Coffee & ConversationsCoffee & Conversations is Wednesday, Sept. 18 at Grassroots Coffee from 7:30 a.m. to 8:15 a.m. There's no program; coffee and snacks are not included. Feel free to bring friends and potential members.

Pack & SortThe club meeting on Thursday, Sept. 19 will begin at 11:30 a.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank. Members will pack and sort vegetables and fruit for our Weston Park Produce Market on Saturday, Sept. 21. After we pack produce, lunch will be served.
