Thomasville Rotary Club has a Big Heart for Seniors

The Rotary Club of Thomasville sponsored the 5th Annual Thomasville Scott Senior Center Valentine's Party for 75 seniors Feb 14, 2020. We took the event back to the Scott Senior Center this year. Thanks to Rotarian Susie Shin, a "kissing booth" was the focal point and an opportunity for the seniors to use props and have their picture taken. These photos will be printed and given to the seniors next week. While photos were being taken, Aretha Franklin played in the back ground at the request of the seniors. Some joined the dance floor while others moved in their seats. Food was catered by Henderson's. Rotarian Carol Jones made homemade cheesecakes and chocolate mousse for dessert. Heart trees were located at both TNB offices and Southern Pines. The community was encouraged to choose a heart, purchase a gift, and return the gift to the tree locations. These gifts were collected and handed out during the Valentine Party. Prizes were given for Best Smile, Best Dressed, Best Dancer, Best Couple, and Mr. & Mrs. Valentine. The event almost paid for itself with sponsorship money. Seven Rotarians were directly involved and many more contributed on the day of the event. This project impacts Rotary branding by making the broader community aware that Rotary is involved in the community benefitting seniors.
