
Dr. Shamim Khan
Shamim is a computer science professor and the interim Chair of the School of Computer Science at Columbus State University. He was born in Bangladesh and went on to earn a PhD in computer science from the University of Manchester in the UK. Before immigrating to the US, he worked as a faculty at the National University of Singapore for 3 years and at Murdoch University in Australia for 18 years. He has been living in Columbus with his wife Nita and two daughters since 2006. As the coordinator of overseas projects at North Columbus Rotary Club, Shamim has been responsible for receiving 5 Global Grant awards from the Rotary foundation totaling $338,500. One of these projects - Cancer Vaccination and Awareness Campaign for Rural Women in Bangladesh – was recognized as one of twenty noteworthy Rotary projects out of 10,000 Rotary projects world-wide at the June 2017 Rotary Convention in Atlanta.
