What You Missed Last Week!

Our hearts are heavy with the loss of fellow Rotarian Tom Calloway. Our prayers and thoughts go out to his family. John Glenn, Ed Titus, and Andre Marria are all recovering from surgery and are doing well.

We had two great programs last week. The first program was a video history of the Georgia Rotary Student Program, presented by Wallace Goodman. The presentation called attention to how GRSP was begun by Rotarian Will Watt in 1946. Since it’s inauguration, the Rotary Club of Thomasville has sponsored some ninety students from around the world. This is another example of how we are making a difference in our community and the world.

The second program was presented by Will Watt. Will highlighted the life of Henry Talmage "Hammerin' Hank" Elrod. Even though Captain Elrod was born in Turner County, Thomasville and Thomas County benefited from him having grown up here. Will, we thank you for doing the research which brought this local hero out of the shadows.

GRSP allows us to collectively serve our community and the world. One way we individually serve our community is to honor a deserving community member with a Paul Harris Fellow. Carol Jones did so at last week’s meeting. Rotary opens opportunities, let us continue to take advantage of them.
