What You Missed Last Week!

Ours is a service organization, and someone has aptly said, “Service is the rent we pay for being. It is the very purpose of life, and not something you do in your spare time.” For one hundred years, the Rotary Club of Thomasville has been paying the rent by serving the local community and the world. The 2020-2021 Rotary year is quickly drawing to an end. But we know, “Service above self” has no end date. We are reminded daily to think of how we can be of service to others and not think selfishly think of ourselves. We find ourselves by losing ourselves in service to others.

It was great having last weeks meeting at another venue. The Biscuit Company was the ideal place for the program presented by Russell Deese. Russell has visited with us before, but this time, he had space to display a few of his military vehicles. We thank Russell for sharing with us his love of the military and the part he plays in honoring those who have served.

Our lunch was catered by Climmie Mosley. Climmie was the SPARK Thomasville winner for 2019. The barbecued ribs and chicken, baked beans and pasta salad were great. For those who were not able to make the meeting and sample the food, Climmie can be contacted at 229.379.6300 and SPARK Thomasville is one of the programs the Rotary Club of Thomasville supports.

Remember, service is our business. It is who we are and what we do. “Help the life of one person and you can help the community.” Steven Sawalich
