Disaster Relief
Building Bridges In Augusta

Rotarians from all three districts in Georgia joined forces with local volunteers in Augusta and rolled up their sleeves recently to tackle a major restoration effort, with the support of our Disaster Relief Trailer. The mission? To restore and revitalize a Girl Scout camp damaged by severe weather, ensuring it will be ready to welcome campers this summer. Our team accomplished an impressive list of tasks:

  • Rebuilt a foot bridge to improve access across the campgrounds.
  • Reconstructed a deck, that was torn off the side of a building.
  • Removed dozens of fallen trees, clearing dangerous debris from the area.
  • Demolished storm-crushed cabins, making way for future rebuilding efforts.

This work brought the camp significantly closer to reopening and hosting the girls eager to experience outdoor adventures and build lifelong skills. This project underscores the incredible versatility and value of our Disaster Relief Trailer, which not only helps respond to emergencies but also enables proactive service efforts like this one. It also highlights the Rotary spirit of community partnership—working together to rebuild, restore, and make a lasting difference in people’s lives. A huge thank-you to everyone who gave their time and energy to this meaningful project. Your efforts will create lasting memories for campers this summer and for years to come!
