Save the Date Rotary Leadership InstituteRotary Leadership Institute (RLI) is scheduled for Saturday, Jan. 10 at Southern Regional Technical College. All Rotarians are required to complete Part 1, but members are encouraged to attend their appropriate session. RLI is designed to assist in improving Rotary knowledge and leadership skills of future leaders of our Rotary clubs and is offered at three levels over one-day workshops. More information to come. Thursday, Oct. 16 & Saturday, Oct. 18 Sort, Pack & Distribute Fresh ProduceThe club will meet on Thursday, Oct. 16 at 11:30 a.m. at Second Harvest Food Bank to pack food boxes for this month's fresh produce distribution. After we finish packing, enjoy a box lunch with the team or grab one to go. Please join us!
We'll distribute our fresh produce boxes on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Weston Park. Set-up begins at 7:30 a.m., and distribution begins at 8:30 a.m. or as soon as we are ready. Each month, we distribute more than 25 pounds of fresh produce and a protein to more than 200 community members in need as part of our Big Impact Project. Those who benefit from the project complete USDA paperwork validating their household income before they receive assistance, and often are in line to receive produce before set up begins at 7:30 a.m. Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or trying it out for the first time, we’d love to see you there. Bring your energy, your smile, and maybe a friend or two! Let’s make a difference – together. Thursday, Oct. 23 GRSP Campaign Kick-offWe'll hear from GRSP Student Helena Komrzyova at our meeting on Thursday, Oct. 23. She's had a few weeks to get settled at her host home with Mary Beth Donalson and at Valdosta State University. She'll give us a presentation telling us about herself, her home country, and what she hopes to learn this year during her studies in the United States. Additionally, club members will receive their current GRSP Foundation giving-status as we kick off our annual giving campaign. Later that day, Debbie Goodman will host a GRSP reception at her home at 116 N. Dawson St. from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. RSVP here or contact Angela Williamson. Sunday, Oct. 26 National Guard Send-OffOn Sunday, Oct. 26, we'll host a send-off event for the National Guard unit stationed here in Thomasville. To volunteer, contact Melanie Cromartie. More details will be available soon.
