On August 19, twenty-five Rotarians, family members, and friends from the community hosted the Rotary/Second Harvest Free Produce Market at Weston Park. Two hundred forty-three households participated, representing an estimated 1,000 individuals.
One hundred vehicles were already lined up prior to opening the Fresh Produce Market that morning!
Each household received a variety of fresh and frozen foods, including collards, zucchini, sweet potatoes, blueberries, peaches, oranges, strawberries, and chicken.
On the Thursday preceding the market, more than fifty-five Rotarians and friends met at Second Harvest to pack and sort vegetables and fruits for Saturday's market. After working, the group had a delicious lunch of fajitas provided by Anne Candelaria's restaurant and homemade cookies for dessert.
Thanks to ALL members and friends who helped to pack, sort, and host the produce market this month!
