Announcing a Valentine’s Day “Senior Prom” Sunday, February 14, 4PM – 8PM Location: Dorothy C. Benson Senior Complex 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, Sandy Springs, GA 30328
The Rotary Club of Sandy Springs will host a “Senior Citizens Senior Prom” on Valentine's Day, Sunday, February 14, 2016, as part of the “Rotary Has Heart” project. The event will be held at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Complex located at 6500 Vernon Woods Drive, Sandy Springs, GA from 4-8 p.m. “Rotary Has Heart” is a Rotary Zones 33/34 program that involves 1600 Rotary Clubs having a combined membership of over 67,500 community/business leaders in eight U.S. states and 20 Caribbean countries.
“This will be a memorable and unique Valentine’s Day for the seniors and the Rotarians, many who will bring their own Valentines to the event. We expect lots of laughter and dancing,” commented Rotarian Sally Wyeth. Guests will enjoy classic elements of a high school prom: refreshments, music, photographs, and corsages. There is no cost to attend. Advanced registration is required. No tickets will be available at the door. Limited tickets are available through Sandy Springs senior residence facilities. Registered seniors who need some help with their evening attire may attend a fitting scheduled for January 30, 2016 from 9:30-12 a.m. at the Dorothy C. Benson Senior Complex. People who would like to donate formal/fancy dresses/shoes for the January 30th fitting may contact Sally Wyeth at RotarySeniorProm@comcast.net or Tamara Carrera at ceo@ourcac.org
Live music will be provided by a local country band with lead singer Kathy Reed, Ex. Dir., Keep Sandy Springs Beautiful, and by the Yuppies, a rock & roll band led by Chris Barnett, a member of the Rotary Club of Sandy Springs, and President, Bank of Sandy Springs. Refreshments will be contributed by local eateries and caterers who can contact RotarySeniorProm@comcast.net if they want to be part of this special Valentine’s Day evening. Approximately 168 attendees are expected to attend.
